Why Incite?

The Incite Way

At Incite, we understand that the stigma around therapy has made it difficult for some to seek help. People who have been pathologized, labeled, or minimized may struggle with negative perceptions of therapy. That’s why we’re here- to replace those experiences with positive ones and create a space where healing is possible, empowering, and deeply personal.

Our approach to therapy is rooted in validation, collaboration, and individualization. We believe that everyone has unique experiences and strengths, and we are committed to tailoring our support to meet your specific needs. Our goal is not just to help you heal, but to incite a desire for growth and transformation.

Through thoughtful insight and compassionate guidance, we work with you to identify and address any barriers that may be standing in the way of achieving your goals. Together, we’ll explore your challenges and discover the paths forward that feel most authentic and meaningful to you.

If you're ready to take the first step toward healing, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Meet Your Therapist

Monti Bush, LICSW, LCSW-C
Founder / Lead Therapist

I’m Monti Bush, and I founded Incite as a response to the stigma often surrounding traditional psychotherapy. I am a native Washingtonian, a mother to twins, and a wife to an Army veteran. I am deeply passionate about working with couples and families because I believe the relationships we build with the people closest to us are foundational to who we are and who we become. This is why I’m especially committed to supporting individuals and families in navigating their unique challenges with compassion and understanding.

I bring a holistic and individualized approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support the people I work with. I truly believe that trust, a strong rapport, and unconditional positive regard are at the heart of successful therapy. As someone who has spent much of my own life in therapy, I understand firsthand how transformative the process can be. Therapy is not just a profession for me; it’s a deeply personal and empowering tool that has shaped my own growth and healing.

Though Incite is still in its early stages, I have a clear vision: to transform the way psychotherapy is practiced and experienced. I want to create a space where therapy feels authentic, validating, and accessible—where healing and growth are not only possible, but encouraged.

I hold a Master of Social Work from Howard University, specializing in Direct Practice and Mental Health. My background also includes a degree in Political Science and experience in nursing, which has further shaped my understanding of the complex factors influencing mental health.

I am excited to use Incite as a platform to foster positive change in the mental health field and to help people heal in ways that truly work for them. If you’re ready to begin or continue your own journey, I’d be honored to support you along the way.

Mariah Rivera, LICSW, LCSW-C

Associate Therapist

Born and raised in the DMV, I bring both personal roots and professional dedication to my work as a therapist. I consider myself a devoted mother first, a proud social worker second, and always a lifelong learner committed to advocating for my client's healing and growth.

For more than a decade, I have supported children, individuals, and families across a variety of settings, building a career grounded in advocacy, compassion, and culturally attuned care. I hold both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in social work from institutions in Maryland and Washington,DC, where my passion for client-centered support truly took shape.

During my graduate studies at Howard University, I met Monti Bush, the founder of Incite Therapy, and together we have continued to expand our outreach and impact over the years. Joining the Incite Therapy team is an honor and a meaningful next step in my journey.

I am excited to add EMDR trained to my resume and have an entirely new appreciation for the power we hold to heal our body, mind, and lives. My approach is holistic, authentic, and rooted in the belief that healing is both possible and deeply personal. I am committed to walking alongside clients as they navigate life’s challenges, reconnect with their strengths, and cultivate lasting wellness for themselves and for their families.

"Social workers are helpers, not healers. A core tenet of our practice is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. As clinicians, we share tools and collaborate with you to tailor a set of supports and interventions that best fit your unique needs and goals."
